Police Seek Public Help in Solving Birmingham Shooting Death

Authorities are urging the public to come forward with any information about the recent killing of a 22-year-old Birmingham man.

D’Anthony Dejuan Jones was shot on August 20th in the 2100 block of Avenue I in Ensley.

At around 1:30 a.m., South Precinct officers were called to UAB Hospital after Jones arrived there in a vehicle. Unfortunately, he was pronounced dead by the hospital staff at 1:39 a.m.

According to Birmingham police, Jones and a friend were in a vehicle on Avenue I, Ensley, when the shooting took place around 1 a.m. Jones was in the passenger seat when an unknown suspect fired multiple shots at him before fleeing in another vehicle. The friend was unharmed.

Officer Truman Fitzgerald stated that Jones was specifically targeted.

No arrests have been made yet.
