Boeing’s Huntsville Facility Lands $2.7 Billion in Missile Seeker Contracts
HUNTSVILLE, Ala. In a major boost to America’s missile defense capabilities, Boeing’s Huntsville operations have been awarded multiyear contracts worth $2.7 billion to produce advanced missile seekers, the crucial technology that helps interceptors find and destroy threats in midair.

Under these contracts, Boeing will manufacture up to 750 Patriot Advanced Capability-3 (PAC-3) seekers annually through 2023, reinforcing Huntsville’s growing reputation as a cornerstone of national defense innovation.
What Makes the PAC-3 Seeker So Important?
The PAC-3 seeker serves as the “eyes” of the interceptor missile, guiding it with pinpoint accuracy to destroy incoming targets whether they’re hypersonic threats, enemy aircraft, or ballistic and cruise missiles.
It’s a precision-driven piece of technology designed to make split-second decisions in some of the world’s most volatile environments and demand for it has soared.
Global Demand Fueled by Growing Geopolitical Tensions
The surge in demand isn’t happening in a vacuum. Ongoing conflicts in Ukraine, the Middle East, and the Indo-Pacific have sharply increased the need for reliable missile defense systems.
Today, 17 countries depend on the PAC-3 system as part of their national defense infrastructure, reflecting a new global urgency to strengthen air and missile defense capabilities.
Huntsville: The Beating Heart of Boeing’s Defense Production
To meet this global demand, Boeing has been scaling its operations in Huntsville at a remarkable pace.
Earlier this year, the company unveiled a 35,000-square-foot expansion to its production facility, an upgrade that boosted manufacturing capacity by 30%.
The expansion has already paid off. Boeing set new records for both monthly output and 12-month rolling averages, and it expects to deliver up to 700 seekers by the end of the year, a historic milestone for the Huntsville team.

Partnership and Progress
Army Boeing is ramping up production lines to ensure the steady supply of these critical defense components.
“Our team has never been better positioned to answer the nation’s call for greater air and missile defense,”
“These multiyear awards recognize the progress we’ve made and will allow us to meet growing global demand for the PAC-3 seeker.”
Looking Ahead
Boeing’s Huntsville operations are no longer just a regional success story; they're part of a global defense ecosystem that’s responding to a new era of complex threats. With billions in new contracts, record-breaking production levels, and expanding facilities, Boeing’s Alabama team is helping define the future of air and missile defense one seeker at a time.
