Police say the concerning post appeared on social media Sunday and included profanity while directing a violent threat toward the Birmingham Police Department. Investigators quickly flagged the message as credible enough to take action.

Detectives obtained a warrant for second-degree terrorist threat, a misdemeanor in Alabama, and began tracking Chester’s whereabouts. Officers with the department’s Crime Reduction Team located him in the 2600 block of Avenue G in Ensley and took him into custody without major issues.

Chester was then booked into the Birmingham City Jail, where he remained Wednesday pending further legal proceedings.

Police officials stressed that threats against law enforcement are not taken lightly, especially when they spread across social media.

Wade stated, "Any threats against law enforcement and the community are taken seriously by the Birmingham Police Department."

2. "The safety of our officers and the communities we serve is a top priority for our agency."

The case is still active. Investigators are reviewing digital evidence to determine whether additional charges might be warranted.
