Actor Derek Dixon claims that Tyler Perry's sexual assault caused him significant distress. What can be expected?

The entertainment tycoon, Derek Dixon, has made explosive allegations against the billionaire actor who appeared in Tyler Perry's BET TV drama The Oval. Dixon alleges that Perry sexually harassed and assaultes him repeatedly while he was working on the show, as well as in a lawsuit and an interview with ABC News' Linsey Davis.

The accusations against Perry have been strongly refuted by his legal representatives.

Alleged Incident in Atlanta.

According to Dixon, the most unsettling experience occurred at Perry's Atlanta home after a night of drinking. As the actor returned to the guest area where Dixon was staying, Perry pointed to a health-monitoring scale and claimed it required him in his underwear.

According to Dixon, the situation became more serious.

Dixon told ABC that he was grabbed by someone who pulled her underwear down. She attempted to stop him by pulling hers back up as well.

He held my arms and said, "No, it's not a problem.". "Let's just go with the flow, and then I suggested that I wouldn;t be naked.".

During that moment, Dixon expressed his fear and the psychological trauma of having control over his body taken away. He reportedly ended up in bed in the guesthouse bathroom. Perry called to apologize the next day, as per his statement.

Prior Unwanted Advances.

Perry has a history of breaking boundaries, as stated by Dixon. Dixon reported that Perry entered the guest room where he was sleeping and proceeded to rub his leg before making eye contact with him and making comments about his appearance.

“I got out of bed and told myself I wasn't interested, and thought it would come to a halt,” Dixon recounted.

Dixon claims that Perry sent him a number of sexually suggestive text messages.

Fear of Professional Retaliation.

The actor asserts that the mistreatment inflicted undue harm on his profession. During season two of The Oval, Dixon's character was shot multiple times in the second season and this incident is considered as a symbolic response.

“For me, it was his method of demonstrating dominance over us and our professions,” he stated. “The phone calls and texts were sent almost daily.

My mind was preoccupied with the fact that if I didn't react, I could be fired or potentially eliminated from the show.

Dixon claims that the pressure had a significant impact on his mental health.

The Lawsuit.

September 2024 saw Dixon's departure from The Oval. The lawsuit he filed against Perry for $260 million was filed in June 2025. The suit outlines allegations of sexual assault, harassment, and professional coercion.

Dixon explained that he lost money from the show, but the real issue is deterrence. How can one stop a billionaire who persists in doing this without any consequences?

Perry agreed to produce a pilot called Losing It, but the rights remain with Dixon, who claims that he cannot pursue it elsewhere.

A Plea for Accountability.

Dixon stated that his lawsuit is not solely focused on financial damages, but also involves responsibility.

Dixon expressed his desire for someone to take responsibility and not use their dream as a means of compelling them to commit to sex.

That's not professional. That's abuse of power.”
