A Montgomery father and son are accused of capital murder in connection with the shooting death of a local man.

Montgomery, Alabama — A 36-year-old man was killed by gunfire on a peaceful Sunday morning in Montgomery, and a father and son are now being charged with capital murder in connection with the crime.

A Montgomery father and son are accused of capital murder in connection with the shooting death of a local man.

The shooting death of Jamahl Jackson, a Montgomery resident whose life was cut short in the early hours of May 4, is attributed to Curtis London Sr., 37, and his son, Curtis London Jr., 19.

Following a report of a person shot, Montgomery police and emergency medical personnel were sent to the intersection of Highland Avenue and Hall Street shortly before dawn, at approximately 4 a.m. First responders discovered Jackson not responding when they got there. At the scene, he was declared dead.

It is still unknown what happened in the seconds before the fatal confrontation. There is still a lot of mystery around the case because law enforcement has not disclosed any precise information or a motive. However, according to jail records, the reason for the capital murder allegation is that the deadly rounds were fired from a vehicle, which increases the seriousness of the offense in accordance with Alabama law.

Police said the Londons were arrested on Sunday
afternoon between 4 and 5 p.m. at the Montgomery County Detention Facility. Both individuals are still detained without bond as of Monday.

Montgomery Police Department spokesperson Sgt. Tina McGriff confirmed the arrests but refused to provide any details, claiming the continuing inquiry.

Jamahl Jackson's passing adds another name to the long list
of victims in a city where communities are still being engulfed by gun violence. His passing reflects a common suffering experienced by families throughout the area: unresolved grief, abrupt disappearance, and unanswered questions.
