Highway 1 closures planned for Ironman 70.3 Santa Cruz triathlon

A rolling closure of sections of Highway 1 is scheduled for Sunday, September 8, to facilitate the biking segment of the Ironman 70.3 Santa Cruz triathlon.

From 7 to 9:30 a.m., northbound Highway 1 will be closed between Western Drive in Santa Cruz and Pigeon Point Road in San Mateo County as cyclists complete the first part of their route.

Southbound Highway 1 will be closed between Pigeon Point Road and Western Drive from 8:15 to 11:45 a.m. as riders finish the return leg of the race.

The California Highway Patrol will manage traffic control, ensuring that local traffic can enter Highway 1 safely at various points, including Shaffer Road, Dimeo Lane, Scaroni Road, Coast Road, Laguna Road, Bonny Doon Road, Davenport Avenue, Davenport Landing Road, Cement Road, Hoover Road, White House Canyon Road, Rossi Road, and Gazos Creek Road.
