Supermarket Chain Wegmans Issues Recall for Dessert Due to Allergy Risk

Wegmans, a popular grocery chain, has initiated a recall of its gluten-free carrot cake slices after discovering they were mistakenly labeled as gluten-free chocolate cake slices. This mislabeling is particularly concerning as the chocolate cake contains soy, a potential allergen.

According to Newsweek, the mislabeled products are marked “Kalo GF Chocolate Cake Slice” with a UPC of “8-53407-00418-4.” Wegmans has advised customers who bought these slices to return them to their local store's customer service desk for a full refund.

The affected cake slices were sold in stores located in Virginia and North Carolina, as stated in an announcement on Wegmans' website.
