Wes Scantlin, the lead singer of the rock band Puddle of Mudd, faced a dramatic arrest this week following a standoff with police in Burbank, California. Reports indicate that the 52-year-old musician was initially stopped for a traffic violation, only for authorities to discover an outstanding warrant related to a weapon found at an airport.
When officers requested Scantlin to exit his Hummer, he reportedly refused, leading to the involvement of a crisis negotiator. Despite their efforts, the situation escalated, and police resorted to using pepper spray in an attempt to remove Scantlin from the vehicle.
According to reports, the pepper spray proved ineffective, prompting the intervention of a SWAT team. The SWAT team broke the vehicle’s window and deployed pepper balls, which eventually compelled Scantlin to surrender. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital to have his eyes flushed before being taken into custody.
Scantlin is facing charges of resisting arrest in addition to his existing warrant. He is scheduled to appear in court on August 20. The singer has a history of legal issues, with multiple run-ins with the law over the years.
Puddle of Mudd, formed in 1992, gained prominence in the 1990s and early 2000s. The band’s discography includes six studio albums, with their most recent release, "Ubiquitous," arriving in 2023.
