Robbery Suspect Fired Shot During Birmingham Police Chase – No Injuries Reported

A robbery suspect is now in custody after firing a shot during a chase with Birmingham police on Saturday.

At first, it seemed like a bystander had been shot, but police later confirmed that no one was hurt.

Police were called to a robbery in the 4600 Block of 13th Avenue North at 12:45 p.m., according to Officer Truman Fitzgerald. When they arrived, they found that an adult man had been robbed and the suspect was running away on foot.

Police chased after the suspect. During the chase, they heard a gunshot and saw a bystander fall. Initially, it was thought the bystander had been shot, but it was later confirmed that no one had been injured.

The suspect has been arrested and is being questioned by police. Officer Fitzgerald noted that they do not think the suspect was shooting at the police.
