23-Year-Old Man Killed in Shooting at Tuscaloosa Community Center
A tragic shooting at a Tuscaloosa community center claimed the life of a 23-year-old man on Saturday afternoon.

According to authorities, police responded to reports of gunfire at the McDonald Hughes Community Center on Martin Luther King Boulevard around 4 p.m. Upon arrival, officers found the victim suffering from gunshot wounds. He was rushed to DCH Regional Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.
Capt. Jack Kennedy of the Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit stated that the shooting took place during a private event at the center. Investigators have since gathered evidence from the scene, reviewed surveillance footage, interviewed multiple witnesses, and spoken with the individual who fired the weapon.
Kennedy noted that self-defense is a key factor in the case, and at this time, no arrests have been made. Once the investigation is complete, all evidence will be presented to a Tuscaloosa County grand jury, which will determine if any charges will be filed.
Authorities are urging anyone with additional information to come forward as they continue their investigation.
