Montgomery Teen Faces Capital Murder Charge After Fatal Shooting During Rifle Theft

An 18-year-old from Montgomery has been charged with capital murder in connection with the fatal shooting of a 20-year-old man during a robbery.

My’Quan Shyki Morris is accused of killing Kavone Mosquera on July 16, as detailed in court records released on Monday.

Emergency responders arrived at the scene, located at the 3200 block of Covered Bridge Road, at 12:35 a.m. on Tuesday following reports of a shooting. Mosquera was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:47 a.m. A second individual who was injured in the incident was transported to a hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Charging documents reveal that the shooting occurred as Morris was attempting to steal a rifle.

Morris was taken into custody and booked at the Montgomery County Detention Facility on Friday, where he remains without bond.
