Man Killed, Woman Injured in Auburn House Fire
A man tragically died, and a woman was seriously injured in an overnight fire at a home on Stubb Avenue in Auburn. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
A tragic fire broke out late Sunday night in Auburn, resulting in the death of a man and leaving a woman with serious injuries.
The Auburn Fire Department received a distress call at approximately 10:40 p.m., reporting a fire with individuals trapped inside a residence located on the 700 block of Stubb Avenue. Firefighters arrived swiftly to find the home engulfed in heavy smoke and flames.
To reach the victims, the firefighters used a ladder to access the home through a bedroom window. Once inside, they discovered both individuals unconscious and immediately rescued them from the burning structure.
Emergency medical teams on the scene provided critical life-saving assistance before transporting the victims to separate hospitals. The 61-year-old man was taken to East Alabama Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead. The 60-year-old woman was transported to Piedmont Hospital and is currently in serious but stable condition.
Authorities have not yet released the names of the victims. The cause of the fire is still under investigation as officials work to determine what sparked the deadly blaze.
