Man Arrested After Charred Remains of Missing Alabama Man Found in Burned Truck
The charred body of a 23-year-old man, missing since last week, has been discovered inside his burned vehicle in Dallas County, Alabama.
Christian Moore vanished in the early hours of Thursday, July 11, 2024, from his home in Newbern. Fourth Judicial Circuit District Attorney Robert Turner revealed on Tuesday that Moore’s 1999 Chevrolet Silverado was found in Dallas County.
Sheriff’s deputies discovered the vehicle on Thursday while responding to a call about a burned truck slightly off the road. The truck was subsequently towed to a local wrecker service.
Upon learning of Moore's disappearance, deputies recalled the vehicle they had towed and connected it to the missing person case. "It was only after they heard about the missing person did they look into the vehicle and discover the charred remains," Turner said.
Moore's remains were officially identified on Sunday.
On Monday, 24-year-old Aravis Arlexus Thomas, from Valley Grande, was taken into custody, as per court records released on Tuesday. Thomas faces charges of corpse abuse, tampering with physical evidence, and first-degree criminal mischief.
Charging documents state that blood was found inside a Valley Grande home and allege that Thomas placed Moore's body and other evidence in the passenger seat of the truck before setting it on fire.
The investigation continues, and additional charges are expected.
