Birmingham Man Succumbs to Injuries Eight Days After West Side Shooting
Ladarrius Antonio Kennedy, 31, dies following a shooting on Birmingham's west side. This incident marks the 94th homicide in Birmingham for 2024. Authorities seek information.
A Birmingham resident, Ladarrius Antonio Kennedy, has passed away eight days after being shot on the city's west side. Kennedy, aged 31, was involved in a confrontation on Monday, July 19, at 10:50 p.m. outside the Chevron located at 1017 Third Ave. West. The dispute escalated, resulting in gunfire that critically injured Kennedy.
Following the incident, Kennedy was immediately transported to UAB Hospital, where he battled for his life until he succumbed to his injuries at 4:42 a.m. the following Tuesday.
This tragic event marks the 94th homicide in Birmingham this year. Notably, eight of these cases have been deemed justifiable and thus not classified as criminal. Jefferson County, encompassing Birmingham, has recorded a total of 119 homicides in 2024.
