A suspect in the tragic shooting of a 16-year-old girl in North Alabama has surrendered to the authorities.
Sheffield Police Chief Ricky Terry announced on Monday that an arrest warrant had been issued for 18-year-old Larmarion Nizer Bethany, also known as "Ghost," in connection with the murder of DeMylah Delyric Nixon-Johnson. Bethany turned himself in at approximately 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on July 24 at around 1 a.m. at 1006 S. Nashville Ave., where Nixon-Johnson was fatally shot. Investigators believe she was not the intended target. Officers arrived at the scene to find her lying in the grass, with a single gunshot wound to her back.
Nixon-Johnson's aunt, Annie Johnson, has started a GoFundMe campaign to cover the funeral expenses for her niece.
