Auburn Baseball Poised for Dominance with Addition of Talented Dutton Brothers

Coach Butch Thompson and the Auburn Tigers scored big when LSU RHP Sam Dutton committed to joining the team after a successful visit last week. The junior, originally from Westbrook Christian, brings valuable experience, having pitched in 57 games at LSU. With a record of 1-3 and an ERA of 6.02 in 86.2 innings, Dutton's potential was most evident during his season as a starter, where he posted a 1-1 record with an ERA of 5.12 in 11 starts.

Sam Dutton is eager to earn a starting role at Auburn, embracing the competitive spirit of the league. "It's huge, but at the same time, I have to put my head down and work just like every other guy competing for a spot," Dutton shared with Auburn Undercover. "There's no easy way to it. This league is competitive, and you have to earn everything. I just have to keep my head down and work."

Joining Sam is his brother Andrew Dutton, who is set to play his final season at Auburn. Andrew, an exceptional player from Birmingham-Southern, boasts a career batting average of .340, with 12 home runs and 36 doubles over four seasons. The Dutton brothers are ecstatic about reuniting on the field, with Sam expressing, "It's awesome. It's truly something every brother dreams about doing. The last time we played together was the 2020 COVID year, and that season got cut short. It's an awesome experience and opportunity to get to play with him again."

Sam, familiar with Auburn and Coach Thompson from his high school days, has always admired the staff's dedication and genuine care for their players. "They're awesome," Sam said. "It was huge having their input on different things about me. I value their opinion a lot. They're not only great coaches, but they're great human beings too. You can tell they actually care about you. That's the biggest thing I took away from meeting all the coaches."

As part of a national championship team at LSU, Sam Dutton knows what it takes to reach the pinnacle of college baseball. Now, with the combined strength of both Dutton brothers, Auburn is positioned to dominate the competition. Their shared goal is clear: "Let's get back to Omaha!"
