Jalen Milroe and Alabama Players Proudly Named 2024 Football Team Captains
Jalen Milroe and other Alabama players express their pride and responsibility after being named team captains for the 2024 football season.
In 2024, Alabama football has seen some changes, including how the team captains are chosen. Previously, under coach Nick Saban, captains were selected after the regular season. However, new coach Kalen DeBoer decided to have Alabama pick its captains before the season starts.
The Crimson Tide players voted and selected quarterback Jalen Milroe, offensive guard Tyler Booker, linebacker Deontae Lawson, and defensive back Malachi Moore as the four permanent captains for the 2024 season. Both Milroe and Moore were captains last year as well.
As Alabama gears up to face Western Kentucky on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium, each captain shared what it means to them to be chosen for this important role.
Jalen Milroe: Milroe expressed how much being a captain means to him. He said, "I take great pride in representing our football team, the state of Alabama, and my teammates in a positive light. Being chosen as a captain is very important to me, and I’m very thankful for the opportunity."
Malachi Moore: Moore talked about how honored he feels to be named captain before the season even starts. He said, "It shows how my teammates view me and the other captains. We want everyone on the team to be leaders, and it’s a huge honor to be recognized in this way."
Deontae Lawson: Lawson also shared his gratitude, saying, "Being voted as a team captain by my teammates means the world to me. I’ll continue to serve and lead them in any way I can."
Tyler Booker: Booker reflected on his journey, saying, "Being seen as a leader by my teammates is truly an honor and a blessing. I’ve wanted to be a captain ever since I learned what it meant. Now that I’ve achieved this goal, I know I have a responsibility to lead throughout the season. But the ultimate goal is to win a national championship, and that’s what we’re focused on."
