Human Remains Discovered in Mobile County Wooded Area

Authorities are investigating the discovery of human remains found Friday afternoon in a wooded area of Mobile County. The remains were located in Mount Vernon, near E. Coy Smith Highway and Shepard House Road, according to a spokeswoman from the Mobile County Sheriff’s Office.
While the Sheriff's Office crime scene unit is assisting Mount Vernon police with the investigation, they are not leading the case. As such, the spokeswoman could not confirm if the remains are linked to any ongoing investigations.
When contacted, a representative from the Mount Vernon Police Department declined to answer questions regarding the investigation early Friday evening.
