2022 LSU Hero Mason Taylor Excited to Face Alabama in Baton Rouge Again

Mason Taylor caught the pass, fell into the end zone, and the celebration began. Taylor, a tight end at LSU, had just caught the two-point conversion ball to beat Alabama in 2022, and the Tiger faithful rushed the field around him, delirious over beating the Crimson Tide 32-31.
That’s the last time the Tide set foot in Tiger Stadium. In 2023, Alabama got their revenge in Tuscaloosa, but UA will return to Louisiana this season.
It’s a different scenario for 2024, with Kalen DeBoer leading the Tide after Nick Saban’s retirement. Still, speaking at SEC Media Days on Monday in Dallas, Taylor said he was still expecting an electric atmosphere.
“Our campus lights up when Bama comes to play,” Taylor said.
The Tigers are entering Brian Kelly’s third season in Baton Rouge. They’ll be without Heisman Trophy winner Jaden Daniels and have a new defensive coordinator, Blake Baker, who moved over from Missouri.
Alabama returns to LSU on Nov. 9 for a game that could have serious ramifications in the race to make a 12-team College Football Playoff.
“It’s gonna be a great game,” Taylor said. “They’re a great team and it’s gonna be great competition.”
LSU opens its season on Sept. 1 in Las Vegas against Southern Cal. Alabama begins the DeBoer era on Aug. 31, when it will face Western Kentucky in Tuscaloosa.
