Top Performers from Alabama's Week 1 Volleyball Poll
Discover the top volleyball players from Week 1 in Alabama, including standout performances from St. Luke's, Madison County, and Jasper. Find out who took the top spot and vote for your favorite player for Week 2.
More than 15,000 votes were cast in the Week 1 Volleyball Player of the Week poll, highlighting the top performers from around the state.
Top Performer:
Junior Baker Garside from St. Luke’s Episcopal School earned 4,676 of the 15,245 total votes, securing 31% of the ballots. Garside, a setter for the Wildcats, delivered an impressive performance last week with 122 assists, 22 digs, 12 kills, and seven aces, leading her team to a 5-1 season start. St. Luke’s added another win this week and currently holds the third spot in Class 3A in the Alabama Sports Writers Association (ASWA) volleyball rankings.
Second Place:
Madison County’s junior setter, Addy Gustafson, finished second in the poll with 2,595 votes, or 17% of the total. In the first week, she recorded 119 assists and 65 digs, contributing to her team's second-place ranking in Class 4A in the ASWA poll.
Third Place:
Emma Rigsby, a sophomore setter from Jasper, came in third with 1,879 votes, making up 12% of the total. She had 139 assists, 29 digs, and six aces for the Vikings, who are ranked ninth in Class 6A.
