Two top high school softball players from Alabama, Ava Hodo and Katie Norgard, are ranked among Perfect Game’s top 50 prospects for the 2026 class, showcasing their impressive performances on the field.
Two of Alabama's top high school softball players have earned spots in Perfect Game’s first player rankings for the class of 2026, which was announced on Sunday.
Ava Hodo, a catcher from Orange Beach, is ranked No. 1 in the nation. Meanwhile, Katie Norgard, an infielder from Hartselle, is ranked No. 11.
Alabama is among just five states that have at least two players ranked in the top 15.
Hodo, the Class 4A Player of the Year, had an outstanding season last year, hitting a .486 batting average with 12 home runs and 63 RBIs. She also drew 30 walks and only struck out three times, leading her team, the Makos, to their fourth consecutive state championship.
Hodo was recognized as a first-team all-state catcher in Class 4A and earned a spot on the super all-state softball team.
Norgard, who plays as an infielder, had an impressive season as well, with a .396 batting average and 16 home runs as a sophomore. She collected 60 RBIs, had a .479 on-base percentage, and a 1.371 OPS. Her performance helped Hartselle reach the Class 6A softball championship.
These rankings highlight the exceptional talent of these young athletes and the strength of Alabama's high school softball program.
