Alabama Football Freshmen Launch 'New Wave' Podcast: Insights from Ryan Williams and Jaylen Mbakwe
Alabama football freshmen Ryan Williams and Jaylen Mbakwe are launching a new podcast called 'New Wave' where they share their experiences on and off the field. Tune in every other week for fresh insights and special guest appearances.
Alabama Football Freshmen Start 'New Wave' Podcast
Under Nick Saban's leadership, Alabama football didn't allow freshmen to talk to reporters. But things have changed. Now, two freshmen, Ryan Williams and Jaylen Mbakwe, are not only talking to reporters but also starting their own podcast.
The podcast, called "New Wave," will be hosted by wide receiver Ryan Williams and cornerback Jaylen Mbakwe. According to a release from news, the show will have new episodes every other week. In their podcast, Williams and Mbakwe will discuss their experiences playing for Alabama's Crimson Tide, both on and off the field. They will also feature special guests, including former Alabama players who went on to play in the NFL.
Williams and Mbakwe are both highly-rated recruits from Alabama's 2024 class. Recently, in a game against Western Kentucky, Williams caught two passes for 139 yards and scored two touchdowns. Mbakwe recorded four tackles and broke up a pass. Both players are local talents; Williams played for Saraland, while Mbakwe played for Clay-Chalkville.
Alabama football will be producing the podcast, meaning everything will be handled by the university. The creative team, led by Walt Brock and Preston Adelman, will manage the podcast. This new initiative reflects a modern approach where Alabama players can speak more freely and also build their personal brands using the university's resources.
The first episode of "New Wave" is scheduled to be released on Monday.
