Police Chase in Jefferson County Ends in Arrests and $2 Million Bond

Two individuals were arrested following a high-speed police chase that ended in a crash in western Jefferson County, Alabama. The pursuit crossed through multiple areas, resulting in three separate crashes, and involved the county’s Star 1 helicopter.

Drug Investigation Leads to Chase

The incident began when Jefferson County drug officers were investigating a tip about drug activity in the Bessemer area. They attempted to stop a Chevrolet HHR in Fairfield, but the driver refused to stop, leading to a chase through Ensley and Brighton. The driver eventually lost control and crashed at the intersection of 48th Street and Huntsville Avenue in Brighton.

Arrests and Injuries

The driver, 44-year-old Jarvis Anjuan Allen, was arrested after the crash and taken to the hospital as a precaution before being booked into Jefferson County Jail. His bond is set at over $2 million. A passenger, 19-year-old Braylin Allen, fled the scene but later turned himself in to authorities. He was charged with attempting to elude and released on a $6,000 bond.

Crashes During the Chase

During the pursuit, a law enforcement vehicle was involved in a crash at Dr. Martin Luther King Drive and Woodward Road. The other driver, who wasn’t part of the chase, was taken to the hospital for precautionary reasons. Another crash occurred near the chase’s end when a sheriff’s vehicle hit a cinderblock wall after sliding on gravel. Fortunately, no one was injured.

Drugs and Weapons Seized

Authorities seized a large amount of drugs, including 40 grams of fentanyl, 28 grams of ecstasy, and over 600 grams of marijuana. They also recovered an FN 5.7 semi-automatic pistol, four cell phones, and two digital scales.
