An Unexpected Danger During Sunday Worship

Some 150 people were inside the church, which is located in Wayne, some 25 miles west of Detroit, at 11 a.m., when the threat appeared. Watchful parishioners spotted a man driving erratically before he drew up to the church, got out of his car while wearing a tactical vest, and armed himself with a long rifle and a handgun, according to Police Chief Ryan Strong.

Although authorities have not disclosed any additional information regarding the suspect's motivation, it was thought that the 31-year-old Caucasian male suspect was going through a mental health crisis.
