Patrick Mahomes brushes off comments made about his wife, Brittany, by Donald Trump

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes recently addressed former President Donald Trump’s political comments about his wife, Brittany, which were made during a Fox News interview.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Mahomes downplayed the impact of Trump’s remarks, which included Trump’s claim that Brittany is a supporter of his.

“At the end of the day, it’s about me and my family and how we interact with others,” Mahomes said. “Brittany and I are both very involved in our community, working to uplift people and provide opportunities. Political figures will often make statements, but I can’t let that influence how I go about my daily life or how I strive to live it to the fullest.”

Patrick Mahomes, currently in his eighth NFL season and a two-time league MVP, responded after Trump’s Fox News interview, where Trump discussed Taylor Swift’s support of Vice President Kamala Harris and mentioned Mahomes.

“I actually like Mrs. Mahomes much better, if you want to know the truth. She’s a big Trump fan,” Trump stated. “I like Brittany. I think Brittany is great.”

While Brittany Mahomes has not publicly endorsed Trump, she faced criticism after seemingly liking and later unliking a Trump Instagram post last month. She subsequently defended herself on Instagram, referring to her critics as "haters," and has liked several pro-Trump comments on the platform.

Patrick Mahomes, who has been active in voter registration and supported making GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium a polling location in 2020, emphasized his stance on not using his platform for political endorsements.

“I’ve always said that I don’t want my position or my platform to be used to endorse any political candidate,” he said. “My role is to encourage people to register to vote, to do their own research, and to make informed decisions for themselves and their families.”
