Half Moon Bay Girls Varsity Volleyball beats Gunn 3 – 0

On August 29th, Half Moon Bay High School’s volleyball program made a resounding statement by sweeping Gunn High School across all three levels—Varsity, Junior Varsity, and Freshman. This commanding performance not only highlighted the Cougars’ strength but also set the stage for what promises to be a successful season.

The Varsity team’s victory was particularly noteworthy, marked by a well-rounded offensive attack and solid defensive play. 

Leading the Cougars’ offense were three standout hitters: Gabby Harrison, who delivered 8 kills and 2 aces; Lillian Unruh, with 6 kills and 3 aces; and Ginger Sullivan, who added 6 kills and an ace. Defensively, Unruh shone with 7 digs, while Amelia Ortolan and Sullivan each contributed 6 digs. Harrison also made her mark at the net with 6 blocks.

Tina Marzocca and Lily Harrison set the pace for the team, combining for 23 assists. Marzocca provided 12 assists, and Harrison added 11, showcasing their ability to execute under pressure and finish strong.

The Junior Varsity and Freshman teams also played pivotal roles in the sweep, underscoring the depth and talent of the Half Moon Bay program and signaling a promising future for the Cougars.
