Oneonta's head baseball coach, Brandon Moore, is back—again.
Oneonta has chosen a well-known individual to lead its baseball program once more in a move that combines strategic genius with nostalgia. In his second chapter with the Redskins, veteran coach Brandon Moore, whose name is inscribed on the school's athletic record, is formally returning as head coach.

Furthermore, this reunion is more than just nostalgic.
From 2015 until 2022, Moore served as the inaugural head coach of Oneonta's baseball team. During that time, the club amassed a 144-58 record and had a spectacular run to the Class 4A state championship series in 2021. His reign opened doors in addition to bringing victories. His ability to foster both talent and ambition is demonstrated by the fact that eleven of his players went on to sign college scholarships.
A Sort of Detour to the Big Leagues
In 2022, Moore left Oneonta to become a member of the coaching staff at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), where he worked under head coach Casey Dunn. He did a lot of different things throughout his three seasons with the Blazers, but his most notable role was probably managing the defense. His influence was evident and immediate.
Four UAB baseball players were selected to the All-AAC squad for the 2024 season, with outfielder Logan Braunschweig standing out as a defensive wonder. Braunschweig's stellar.974 fielding percentage and excellent metrics—ranking sixth nationally in outs over average (9.0)—helped him conclude the season as a finalist for the coveted 2025 ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove squad.
Going from Shortstop to the Star
Moore was a young athlete himself before he was shaping them into collegiate possibilities. His dominant presence in the infield helped lead the Tigers to the 1994 College World Series, and he was named to the All-SEC team.
The major leagues took notice of that performance. After reaching Triple-A after being selected by the Chicago White Sox in the 17th round of the 1994 MLB Draft, he turned his focus to player development. He taught for the White Sox, the Pittsburgh Pirates, and the Kansas City Royals during his post-playing career, molding undeveloped talent into players of professional caliber.
The Upcoming Chapter of Oneonta
Moore now comes back to Oneonta not only older and wiser, but also more seasoned, having played every level of the game. His return is a homecoming that promises to breathe new life into a program that is already steeped in tradition, not simply a headline.
Additionally, Oneonta has selected a man whose tale is far from over, in a world where coaching careers sometimes end in footnotes.
