New Margaritaville Resort Set to Transform Alabama Coastline
Introduction of the New Resort Complex
The Wharf and Jimmy Buffett’s Margaritaville empire have unveiled plans for a sprawling 70-acre Margaritaville Resort complex to be constructed adjacent to The Wharf along the Intracoastal Waterway in Orange Beach, Alabama.
Project Timeline and Features
According to The Wharf’s announcement on Thursday, construction will commence this fall, with the first phase scheduled to open in 2027 and the entire resort anticipated to be completed by spring 2029.
The resort will center around a vibrant Waterfront District, boasting various dining and beverage options, activities for all ages, retail shops, group meeting spaces, and transient boat parking. Additionally, a nearby six-acre “oasis deck” will offer a pool, waterslide complex, activity area, and poolside entertainment.
Accommodation Options
Guests will have a variety of accommodation choices, including single-family cottages, luxury waterfront condominiums, and hotel-style units, ensuring a memorable stay for every visitor.
Connection to Gulf Shores and Existing Locations
A Margaritaville Restaurant, previously announced for the new Legendary Marina & Yacht Club development in Gulf Shores, is expected to open in fall 2025. It remains unclear how the new resort announcement will impact these plans.
Margaritaville already enjoys a presence on the central Gulf Coast, with a resort in Biloxi and a restaurant in Destin, enhancing the brand’s footprint in the region.
Additional Amenities and Experiences
According to The Wharf, guests at the new resort can take a ferry to The Wharf to experience its attractions and events, including concerts at the Wharf Amphitheater, where Jimmy Buffett’s Coral Reefer Band recently performed.
