A woman was shot early Wednesday morning in Birmingham, and an investigation is ongoing.
The shooting occurred just after 7 a.m. at Elyton Village on the 300 block of Second Street S.W.
According to Sgt. LaQuitta Wade, the woman was injured but her injuries are not life-threatening. Her child was with her during the incident but was not harmed.
Reports indicate that the woman was shot in the leg.
Wade also mentioned that a suspect has been arrested, but the reason behind the shooting is still unknown.
