A Madison resident faces arson and attempted murder charges after allegedly setting fire to his home with two people inside in Limestone County. Both occupants escaped unharmed.
A 30-year-old man from Madison is facing serious charges after allegedly setting his own home on fire with two people still inside. The incident occurred on Monday in Limestone County, leading to swift action by local authorities.
Sheriff Joshua McLaughlin reported that first responders were dispatched to the 27000 block of Keeton Road in Harvest after receiving a call about a house fire. Upon arrival, deputies, investigators, and the State Fire Marshal’s Office collaborated to determine the cause of the blaze.
Their investigation revealed that Dominic Edward Germain had intentionally set the fire within the residence, while two occupants were still inside. Fortunately, both individuals managed to escape unharmed before the fire could cause fatal harm.
Following the investigation, enough evidence was found to justify the arrest of Germain. He now faces charges of first-degree arson and two counts of attempted murder. Germain is currently being held without bond at the Limestone County Jail.
Sheriff McLaughlin praised the quick response from multiple county fire departments, the Alabama Fire Marshal’s Office, and local law enforcement, who worked together to address the dangerous situation.
