Like many football enthusiasts, Independence High School senior Lamarcus Allen’s passion for the game was ignited by his father. “My love for sports started with my dad. He introduced me to football, and that passion has only grown stronger over the years.”
As a middle linebacker and running back for the Bulldogs, Allen is eagerly anticipating his senior season. “I’m really looking forward to my final year. My main goal is to savor every moment, because once it’s over, it’s gone.”
Despite his excitement, Lamarcus is aware that senior year brings added responsibilities. “I see my role as a chance to support the younger players and set a positive example for them.”
The Bulldogs finished last season with a 3-8 record, and Allen is determined to help improve that performance. To prepare, he has spent significant time in the weight room during the off-season. “I wanted to ensure I was mentally prepared, so I focused on team bonding during morning workouts and practiced on my own as well.”
When reflecting on his proudest sports moments, Allen credits his father’s influence. “I’m not usually one to boast about my achievements because my dad taught me to strive for excellence. He’s always pushed me to be my best.”
As for the challenges ahead, Lamarcus maintains a positive outlook. “There really aren’t any challenges if you’re determined. If you set your mind to something, you can achieve it, no matter how tough it seems.”
In addition to football, Allen wrestles and runs track in the spring. Academically, he has excelled with a 3.4 GPA throughout high school. Looking ahead, Lamarcus hopes to play football at the collegiate level. If that doesn’t pan out, he’s considering a career in the military or eventually entering the medical field.
