Georgia Toddler Drowns in Alabama Lake: A Heartbreaking Incident

A tragic incident occurred over the weekend as a 3-year-old girl from Georgia drowned in an east Alabama lake.

Kinley Nicole Anderson was enjoying time with her family at Weiss Lake in Cherokee County when she went missing late Saturday afternoon.

A swift response from multiple agencies ensued, including sheriff’s deputies, Leesburg Police and Fire, Cherokee County EMA, Cherokee County Rescue Squad, Alabama Law Enforcement Agency Marine Division, and Atrium Floyd EMS.

The incident took place near a lake house on the 400 block of Northwood Drive.

According to authorities and family members, Kinley fell off the dock. Once she was located, she was immediately transported to Cherokee Medical Center in Centre, where she was pronounced dead at 7:30 p.m.

“Please join us in praying for the family dealing with this horrible tragedy,” Sheriff Jeff Shaver stated in a news release.

In the wake of this devastating loss, Kinley’s aunt, Kellye Palas, has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to assist the family with burial expenses.

“We are asking for prayer for her amazing parents, grandparents, and family,” Palas wrote. “We are all shocked and unsure of how to help besides prayer and trying to alleviate the burden of funeral costs.”

The GoFundMe campaign has already surpassed $15,000 in donations, and contributions are still being accepted.
