20-Year-Old Woman Arrested as Fourth Suspect in Birmingham Mother's Shooting
A 20-year-old woman is the fourth person arrested in connection with last week’s fatal shooting of 21-year-old Asia Alyce Poole at a Birmingham apartment complex. The incident, captured live on Facebook, has shocked the community.
Arrest Details:
Aacoreyah Denae Woods was taken into custody on Tuesday and is facing multiple charges, including murder and attempted murder. She is also charged with firing a gun into a dwelling or vehicle. Woods is currently held in the Jefferson County Jail without bond.
Previous Arrests:
Last Friday, Birmingham police arrested two other suspects, Justin Jamond Hendrix, 20, and Taylor McCloud, 22, on similar charges. They, too, are being held without bond.
The Fight Leading to the Shooting:
Before the shooting, Poole was involved in a dispute with 19-year-old Janiyah Hendrix, allegedly over a man. The argument escalated into a physical fight in the parking lot of the Monarch Ridge apartment complex, which was previously known as Valley Brook.
The fight grew into a larger brawl and eventually led to a shootout, all of which was broadcasted live on Facebook. Poole was found unresponsive in the breezeway of her apartment building and was pronounced dead at the scene by Birmingham firefighters.
Additional Details:
Poole’s friend was also injured in the shooting but survived after being treated at UAB Hospital for a leg wound. After the shooting, Janiyah Hendrix reportedly fled in Poole’s car, which was later found abandoned at J Wings on Center Point Parkway.
Community Reactions and Ongoing Investigation:
Residents and witnesses described the chaotic scene as being "like something out of a movie," with multiple shooters, some wearing masks and armed with assault rifles. The police are continuing their investigation and have urged anyone with more information or videos to come forward.
