Fatal Multi-Vehicle Crash Claims Life in Morgan County
A fatal four-vehicle crash in Morgan County on Alabama 67 results in the death of a Decatur man. ALEA has completed the investigation into the incident.
A tragic multi-vehicle crash in Morgan County resulted in the death of a Decatur resident on Friday evening.
Juan D. Santos-Gonzalez, 30, was declared dead at the scene following a severe four-vehicle collision. The incident occurred on Alabama 67, near Entrekin Road, about 10 miles south of Somerville.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA) reported that Santos-Gonzalez was a passenger in a 2006 Chevrolet Express driven by Jesus D. Garcia. The vehicle was involved in a head-on collision with a 2001 Dodge Ram, driven by a 17-year-old from Arab. The impact caused both vehicles to be subsequently struck by a 2013 Ford F-250, driven by Charles Shumate, 49, of Joppa. Before the Chevrolet collision, the Dodge Ram also collided with a 2011 Lexus RX350 driven by 19-year-old Meadow McDonald, also of Joppa.
Troopers from ALEA’s Highway Patrol Division have completed their investigation into the crash.
