Emmanuel Youngblood of Troy, Alabama, receives 17 years in federal prison after authorities discover over half a kilo of meth hidden in a microwave dinner box.
A 34-year-old man from Troy, Alabama, has been sentenced to over 17 years in federal prison after authorities discovered more than half a kilo of methamphetamine concealed in a microwave dinner box.
Emmanuel Youngblood received a 210-month prison sentence, followed by five years of supervised release, according to an announcement made Thursday by Jonathan Ross, U.S. Attorney for the Middle District of Alabama. Youngblood was convicted in April on charges of possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute.
The incident that led to Youngblood's arrest occurred on November 23, 2022. Troy police officers identified Youngblood behind the wheel of a vehicle and attempted to stop him due to an outstanding arrest warrant. However, Youngblood fled, leading officers on a high-speed chase. He eventually abandoned the vehicle, leaving behind a woman and four small children, and attempted to escape on foot.
During a search of the vehicle, authorities discovered more than half a kilo of methamphetamine, a digital scale, and other substances believed to be controlled drugs. The meth was cleverly hidden inside a microwave dinner box, attempting to evade detection.
This case was investigated by the Troy Police Department and the Drug Enforcement Administration. Assistant United States Attorneys Mark E. Andreu and B. Chelsea Wilson were responsible for the prosecution.
