Cheap Trick Bringing Rock Classics to Oxford This Fall
Legendary rock band Cheap Trick is set to make a return to Alabama this fall, just weeks after thrilling fans at Birmingham’s Coca-Cola Amphitheater.

The group will headline a show on October 12 at the Oxford Performing Arts Center, located at 100 Choccolocco Street. The concert kicks off at 7 p.m., with tickets currently available on the venue’s website, priced between $79 and $109.
Cheap Trick has been one of rock's most lasting acts since its founding in Illinois in the 1970s, thanks to classic classics like "Surrender," "I Want You to Want Me," and "Dream Police." The band's repertoire, which includes more than 20 studio albums, live recordings, and compilations, has impacted both fans and artists for generations.
Their publicist describes the group as “a cornerstone of American music, blending irresistible melodies with razor-sharp riffs and a mischievous sense of humor.”
A Legacy of Rock ’n’ Roll
Three of the original members Rick Nielsen (76, guitar), Robin Zander (72, vocals), and Tom Petersson (75, bass) still tour with the band. Nielsen’s son, Daxx Nielsen, took over on drums in 2010, while Zander’s son, Robin Taylor Zander, also performs with the group as a guest artist.
In 2016, Cheap Trick was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, with Kid Rock leading the induction. The Rock Hall praised the band for their fun, over-the-top stage presence and ability to pack stadiums without ever losing their playful spirit.
Concert Experience
Fans can expect a mix of classic hits and newer songs at the Oxford show. At their recent Birmingham set, Cheap Trick rocked through favorites including “Ain’t That a Shame,” “California Man,” “She’s Tight,” and “Never Had a Lot to Lose.”
Concertgoer Donnie Morgan summed up the Birmingham performance on Facebook:
“Opening up for Rod Stewart was also an amazing and timeless Cheap Trick! Every tune took everyone back to being ‘Forever Young.’ Both bands put on an unforgettable show!”
Cheap Trick is no stranger to Alabama stages, having performed multiple times in the Birmingham area, including shows with Heart and Def Leppard over the years.
With their mix of classic energy, humor, and rock ’n’ roll showmanship, the band continues to prove why they’re one of America’s most beloved rock groups.
