Democratic strategist Basil Smikle addressed voters on MSNBC Sunday, asserting that those who feel Vice President Kamala Harris hasn’t “done enough” to demonstrate her qualifications for the presidency are “intentionally not paying attention.”

Harris has encountered considerable criticism from Republicans about her record in California politics, especially as she has reversed several progressive policies she once supported before becoming the nominee this year. On "PoliticsNation," Smikle commended Harris for her policies that "will help" and expressed confidence that she has effectively distanced herself from President Joe Biden when asked about her connection with voters.

“I completely agree with everything Michael just said. If anyone still believes she hasn’t done enough, it shows they’re intentionally not paying attention to her. She has articulated everything she needs to and has gone above and beyond to make her case for why she should be president,” Smikle stated.

“I believe the messaging, along with the number of appearances—if we use a sports analogy—has paid off. Recent polling indicates that more voters feel her policies will benefit them in the future,” he added. “This suggests she is not only successfully defining herself but also distancing herself from the Biden administration and its policies. She’s contrasting herself with Donald Trump and beginning to establish her own identity as a candidate and a potential president.”
