A beloved Birmingham eatery, Urban Cookhouse, opens a new location at Stadium Trace Village in Hoover.
The popular fast-casual restaurant Urban Cookhouse, which was founded in Birmingham and is well-known for its wood-smoked meats and dedication to using only vegetables grown in Alabama, is creating something new in Hoover. Just off Interstate 459, in the thriving Stadium Trace Village, a 44-acre mixed-use development, the restaurant is getting ready to build a new location.

For a company that began with the straightforward idea, "Buy local,
eat urban," its expansion is another exciting step. Founded by husband and wife team David and Andrea Snyder in 2011 as a small restaurant in downtown Homewood, it has grown into a regional institution with ten locations throughout Alabama and Tennessee. They are not going to stop there, either. The company's website states that Urban Cookhouse is even planning to open a restaurant in the Dallas area of Texas.
The 3,200-square-foot Hoover facility will introduce a new generation of devoted foodies to Urban Cookhouse's hallmark dishes, such as smoked turkey sandwiches, fire-grilled steak wraps, and farm-fresh salads. Owner David Snyder has indicated that announcements will be made shortly, even though an official opening date has not yet been established.
Stadium Trace Village Keeps Expanding
The addition of Urban Cookhouse to Stadium Trace Village, which opened in 2018 and has rapidly grown to be a popular hangout for both Hoover locals and I-459 commuters, is part of an expanding chain of eateries and shops. Phase Two of the development was formally unveiled earlier this year, and the complex currently boasts 33,625 square feet of mixed-use retail space. This suggests that Hoover's desire for development that is neighborhood-focused and well-planned is only growing.
A Longstanding Local Favorite
What sets Urban Cookhouse apart is not just its use of fresh ingredients or its successful counter-service strategy, but also its past. Every meal pays homage to Alabama's fields and flavors. Urban Cookhouse provides a hassle-free farm-to-table experience with its locally sourced vegetables and slow-smoked meats cooked over real hickory wood.
Whether you are craving a robust chipotle-braised pork dish or a light berry-patch salad with grilled chicken on top, Urban Cookhouse manages to find that rare balance between delicious and wholesome.
As they welcome this new establishment, Hoover residents should expect more than simply another lunch spot. They will be joining a regionally inspired culinary concept that is founded on neighborhood partnerships, Alabama pride, and the excellence of artisan food that pervades every taste.
