Slutty Vegan reopening Birmingham location after temporary closure

Slutty Vegan’s Birmingham location is set to reopen on Friday, Oct. 18, following a temporary closure in June for “operational changes.”

The restaurant will host a soft opening from 2 to 7 p.m. on the 18th, followed by an official grand reopening on Saturday, Oct. 19, from 2 to 8 p.m. Regular hours will resume afterward, with the store open Tuesday through Thursday from noon to 8 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from noon to 9 p.m. The location will be closed on Sundays and Mondays.

A representative from Slutty Vegan confirmed that all Birmingham-area staff in good standing at the time of closure were offered positions upon reopening.

This isn’t the first time Slutty Vegan has temporarily shut its doors. Earlier in 2023, the restaurant closed for four days due to mechanical issues, and faced a brief closure in early 2024 due to technical difficulties. In 2023, it also experienced vandalism.

The Slutty Vegan food truck first arrived in Birmingham in 2020, where patrons often waited up to two hours to try their menu items. After the success of the food truck, the Birmingham location opened in August 2022, becoming the first outside of Atlanta and drawing significant support for the Black-owned business.
