28-Year-Old Woman Dies in Southwest Birmingham Shooting; Investigation Ongoing
A 28-year-old woman, Kayla Alexandria Warren, was killed in a shooting in southwest Birmingham. The incident is under investigation as Birmingham’s 103rd homicide of the year.
A 28-year-old woman, Kayla Alexandria Warren, has died following a shooting in southwest Birmingham on Wednesday night. The incident, which occurred at 8:04 p.m. on 30th Street S.W., also left another person injured.
The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office identified Warren, a Birmingham resident, who was pronounced dead at UAB Hospital at 10:54 p.m. The second victim was taken to Princeton Baptist Medical Center by a private vehicle.
Details about the shooting are still unclear, but there was also a report of shots fired into a nearby home. Warren's death marks the 103rd homicide in Birmingham this year. Out of these, eight have been classified as justifiable.
Jefferson County has reported a total of 130 homicides this year, including those in Birmingham.
