1980s Sitcom Star Benji Gregory Found Dead Alongside Service Dog

Benji Gregory, renowned for his role as Brian Tanner in the 1980s sitcom “Alf,” was discovered deceased with his service dog in a vehicle in Arizona.

According to TMZ, Gregory’s sister, Rebecca, confirmed that her brother was found last month in a parking lot outside a Chase Bank branch in Peoria, Arizona. He was 46 years old.

Rebecca revealed to TMZ that Gregory had been battling depression, bipolar disorder, and a sleep disorder. He often stayed awake for days, she mentioned.

It is believed that Gregory went into the bank to deposit residual checks, then returned to his vehicle where he fell asleep and succumbed to heat stroke. His service dog, Hans, also perished, reports indicate.

The Maricopa County Medical Examiner’s office has not yet released an official cause of death.

“Our family is in complete sadness and shock at the loss of one of the most beloved and wonderful men in our small circle,” Gregory’s cousin, Camille Jazzy Jenkins, expressed on social media. “It has taken some time to process and come to terms with our loss. We are not okay ... but take comfort knowing he is with his grandmothers.”

Arizona has been experiencing a severe heatwave for several weeks, with temperatures frequently soaring above 100 degrees.

“Alf,” which aired from 1986 to 1990, featured an “Alien Life Form” puppet living with a family after crash-landing in their garage. Gregory also appeared in other shows such as “Murphy Brown,” “The A-Team,” “The Twilight Zone,” and “Punky Brewster.”
