Trump Criticizes Latest Fox News Poll and Its Accuracy

Donald Trump recently voiced his displeasure with a new poll released by news. The poll showed Vice President Kamala Harris leading in key states: Nevada by 2 points, Arizona by 1 point, and Georgia by 2 points. Meanwhile, Trump has a narrow 1-point lead in North Carolina. Trump had been ahead in all these states until Joe Biden withdrew from the race.

In a statement titled “Fox’s Polling Has An Awful Track Record,” Trump’s campaign criticized the results, saying, “Fox is releasing atrocious polling.”

The statement pointed out that in 2020, news polling was inaccurate in several states, such as North Carolina, Arizona, and Nevada, with errors ranging from 5.3% to 9.7%. The only poll released for Georgia in June 2020 overstated Joe Biden's support by 1.7%.

Despite these numbers, Trump’s campaign claimed he is performing better than past polls suggest. According to news, Trump is currently 10 points ahead in Arizona compared to 2020, 8 points ahead in Nevada, and 5 points ahead in North Carolina. Similar improvements are seen nationwide. For example, the RealClearPolitics average shows Trump is 6 points ahead in Pennsylvania compared to 2020 and 9.4 points ahead of his standing in 2016.

News conducts its polling with Beacon Research (a Democratic firm) and Shaw & Company Research (a Republican firm), which rank 15th according to FiveThirtyEight’s pollster ratings.

Last month, Trump also criticized news for its coverage of Kamala Harris’ events and for allowing ads from the anti-Trump group The Lincoln Project. He questioned, “Why is news putting on Crazy Kamala Harris rallies? Why do they allow the perverts at the failed and disgraced Lincoln Project to advertise?" He added that even Kellyanne Conway’s husband, a vocal Trump critic, advertises on the network. Trump's post concluded, "We have to WIN WITHOUT news!"
