Titans’ Marlon Davidson Faces Potentially Season-Ending Injury

In a disappointing turn of events for the Tennessee Titans, defensive tackle Marlon Davidson has been placed on injured reserve following a severe bicep tear suffered during Thursday’s joint practice with the Seattle Seahawks.

The extent of Davidson's injury raises concerns that it could be season-ending, effectively ruling him out for the remainder of the 2024 NFL season. Should the Titans decide to part ways with him via an injury settlement and Davidson manages to recover, he may have the opportunity to sign with another team for the 2024 season.

Davidson, who had a promising late-season resurgence in 2023, was expected to bolster the Titans' defensive line, joining forces with Pro Bowler Jeffery Simmons, rookie T’Vondre Sweat, and veteran Sebastian Joseph-Day.

After missing the entirety of the 2022 NFL season, Davidson made a notable return in 2023, playing in the Titans' last five games. He initially joined as a practice-squad elevation before making three starts on the 53-man roster. Over these games, Davidson accumulated 10 tackles, a sack, and two tackles for loss, contributing significantly across 163 defensive snaps.

Davidson was re-signed by the Titans on May 6, following his release as an unrestricted free agent on March 13.

A standout in high school football, Davidson was named Alabama’s Class 5A Lineman of the Year in 2015. He continued to impress as an All-SEC player at Auburn before being drafted by the Atlanta Falcons in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

During his initial two years with the Falcons, Davidson participated in 19 games, starting one, but faced significant setbacks due to injuries and COVID-19. His stats included 29 tackles, one sack, one tackle for loss, and an interception returned for a touchdown.

Davidson began the 2022 season on injured reserve due to a knee injury before being released by Atlanta on October 25, 2022. He briefly joined the San Francisco 49ers for their offseason program and preseason before starting the 2023 season on their practice squad. He was signed by the Titans’ practice squad on October 25, exactly one year after his departure from Atlanta.
