Simone Biles Claps Back at Trump with Olympic Gold Win: "I Love My Black Job"

Olympic gymnast Simone Biles took a jab at former President Trump on Friday by tweeting, “I love my Black job,” following her latest Olympic gold medal victory.

After a triumphant performance at the Paris Games, Biles responded to Trump's controversial claims about undocumented immigrants supposedly taking “Black jobs” from Americans.

Biles amplified a tweet from singer/songwriter Ricky Davila, who hailed her as the greatest of all time. Davila’s tweet featured a photo of Biles and praised her accomplishments: “Iconic photo of the GOAT mastering her Black job and collecting gold medals.”

On Thursday, Biles won the all-around gold medal, her second gold of the Paris Games, bringing her career total to nine. With three more events ahead, she may add even more accolades to her name.

This victory marks a stunning comeback for Biles, who withdrew from the previous Olympics to prioritize her mental health.

Biles’ tweet serves as a direct rebuke to Trump, who reiterated his controversial remarks about “Black jobs” during a recent debate with President Biden. Trump repeated the claim on Wednesday at a National Association of Black Journalists forum, where he also falsely asserted that Vice President Kamala Harris only recently “became Black.” His comments were met with groans from the audience.

Biles' public disagreement with Trump is not new. In 2021, her decision to withdraw from competition due to health concerns was met with criticism from Trump’s supporters, who urged her to compete despite her struggles.

Among the critics was JD Vance, Trump’s vice-presidential running mate at the time, who criticized the praise for Biles’ decision. Vance, who was starting a successful run for the U.S. Senate, stated, “I think it reflects poorly on our society that we praise people, not for moments of strength or heroism, but for their weakest moments.”

This week, Democrats used Vance’s past comments to criticize him. Aida Ross, a spokeswoman for the Democratic National Committee, tweeted, “The audacity of JD Vance to go after the GOAT @Simone_Biles as if he isn’t the most unpopular V.P. pick in decades.”
