{Chronicle} – Alabama softball had a chance to pull off an upset in the NCAA Tournament’s Knoxville super regional. Entering the bottom of the first inning, the Crimson Tide, heavy underdogs, were up 2-0 against No. 3 Tennessee.

Then, the Lady Vols started hitting. With two outs, Alabama had a chance to end the inning, but a fielding error allowed Tennessee to score their first run.

Lauren Mealer then hit a two-run homer for Tennessee, securing a 3-2 victory. Karlyn Pickens earned the win in the circle for Tennessee, while Kayla Beaver took the loss for Alabama.

As the teams prepare for Saturday’s second game, which Alabama must win to stay in the tournament, here’s a look at how Friday’s game unfolded.
