Burning Tree Smokehouse will officially open its doors on Tuesday, February 25, at 230 31st Street South, just a block away from Blueprint on 3rd and Hop City Beer & Wine.

The restaurant is the brainchild of Warren Webster, who spent over 35 years at Jim ’N Nick’s Bar-B-Q. Webster will serve as the owner-operator, with Luis Gomez stepping in as general manager.

A Flavorful Menu
Burning Tree Smokehouse will serve a variety of barbecue favorites, including brisket, pork, turkey, and ribs. Guests can also enjoy sandwiches, tacos, and barbecue plates. Side dishes include collard greens, coleslaw, mac and cheese, fries, and barbecue beans, bringing classic Southern flavors to the table.

The restaurant will be open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

A Unique Partnership
Burning Tree Smokehouse is connected to Fresh Hospitality Group’s Fatback Pig Project, a high-quality pork farm, processing plant, and distribution center based in Eva, Alabama. Next month, the Fatback Pig Project will open a second processing plant in Birmingham, directly next to the restaurant.

“We initially planned the space as a processing plant, but when we realized we had extra room, we decided to open a barbecue restaurant,” Webster shared with AL.com. “Barbecue is in our blood—I’ve spent 35 years at Jim ’N Nick’s, and we’re excited to bring something special to Birmingham.”

A Growing Future
The restaurant features indoor seating, a patio area, and an upper deck for guests to enjoy their meals.

While this Birmingham location is the first for Burning Tree Smokehouse, Webster hinted at potential expansion. “We’re starting with this one, and if it’s a success, we’ll definitely look at opening more,” he said.

Birmingham barbecue fans have something new to look forward to, as Burning Tree Smokehouse brings a blend of tradition and innovation to the local food scene.
