McGill-Toolen High School's volleyball team kicked off the AHSAA season with an impressive start, winning nine consecutive matches. This strong performance earned them their first Juanita Boddie Tournament title since 2018.
Ranked No. 1 in the Alabama Sports Writers Association preseason poll, McGill-Toolen now holds a 9-0 record. They began the season with a solid 3-0 win against Spain Park, which is ranked sixth in Class 6A. Following that, they secured eight straight victories in the Boddie Tournament, finishing with a thrilling win against Bob Jones, the second-ranked team in Class 7A. McGill-Toolen won the final match 25-23, 18-25, 15-13.
Throughout the tournament, McGill-Toolen only lost one set, achieving a remarkable 16-1 set record over eight best-of-three matches.
