Motorcyclist Fatally Injured in Early Morning Crash During Police Chase in South Alabama

A motorcyclist lost his life early Friday morning in a crash following a high-speed pursuit by law enforcement officers.

The Alabama State Troopers have identified the deceased as Johenam Moises Fernandez Alvarez, aged 34, a resident of Ashford.

The tragic incident occurred at 12:09 a.m. on Houston County Road 55 near Alabama 52, approximately 12 miles east of Dothan.

Senior Trooper Joshua Thompson reported that the pursuit was initiated by Houston County sheriff’s deputies before the crash took place. Specific details regarding the reasons for the pursuit have not been disclosed.

According to Thompson, Fernandez Alvarez lost control of his motorcycle, which veered off the road and collided with a raised curb, two parked vehicles, and a tree. Fernandez Alvarez was ejected from the motorcycle and died at the scene.

The investigation is currently being conducted by the state troopers.
