Bibb County man kidnapped wife, brutally attacked her friend and left him for dead in Bessemer, records state
A West Blocton man is facing serious charges after allegedly kidnapping his wife and violently attacking her male friend in Bessemer.
Authorities report that 42-year-old James Boothe forced his way into a camper on Dusty Lane around 1 a.m. on January 28. Once inside, he allegedly assaulted the male occupant, using a blunt object and a knife, before restraining him by tying his hands and feet. To prevent any interference, Boothe then locked the injured man inside the camper and left with his wife.
A critical missing alert was soon issued for the 38-year-old woman, leading to an urgent search by Bessemer police and the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency. Hours later, officers located Boothe and his wife asleep in his car in a wooded area in Woodstock.
Boothe was taken into custody and booked into the Jefferson County Jail on Saturday, where he remains held on a $90,000 bond.
