One of the nation's leading chicken brands has initiated a significant recall of its products due to potential contamination by foreign materials, specifically metal, as announced by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA).

Perdue Foods, headquartered in Perry, Georgia, is recalling more than 167,000 pounds of frozen, ready-to-eat chicken tenders and breast nuggets. The recall was triggered after the USDA received consumer reports of metal wires found embedded in the products, which were sold both online and in retail stores nationwide.

The affected products were all produced on March 23 and can be identified by the establishment number “P-33944” on the back of the packaging.

List of Affected Products:

  • 22-oz. (1.38-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages labeled as “PERDUE Simply Smart ORGANICS Breaded CHICKEN BREAST NUGGETS” with a Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” on the back of the package.
  • 29-oz. (1.81-lbs.) vacuum-sealed plastic packages labeled as “PERDUE CHICKEN BREAST TENDERS” with a Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” on the back of the package.
  • 22-oz. (1.38-lbs.) vacuum-sealed packages labeled as “BUTCHERBOX Organic Chicken Breast Nuggets” with a Best If Used By date of “03 23 25” on the back of the package.

To date, there have been no confirmed reports of illness or injury related to the consumption of these products. However, consumers who are concerned about potential health issues are advised to seek medical attention.
